Best Music of the Decade

What? Me want to make a list? I know, it's incredible.

But seriously. Just read this: http://pitchfork.com/features/guest-lists/7698-guest-list-2000s-edition/
and I'm pissed.

No Andrew Bird? 1 mention of Sufjan Stevens? No Outkast? No LCD Soundsystem? No retroactive votes for Frank Stallone? Did no one listen to music this decade?

So, let's start with albums and songs that got you. Twenty albums. Twenty songs. No numbers needed.

I'll be the first to make a stab at this, although I reserve the right to change my picks after I've had more time to think about them:

20 ALBUMS: These are the records that I not only thought were great but that I couldn't stop listening to. I know better records were released--I have enormous respect for Joanna Newsome, Deerhoof, Deerhunter, Outkast, and others--but I just didn't "get into them" in the way that I got into these. I also want to note that there were a huge number of artists I love who had great albums in 1999 but never made another truly awesome record. Bummer. Anyway:

Andrew Bird
"The Mysterious Production of Eggs"

Beirut
"Gulag Orkestar"

Working a nice rundown of my top 25 songs of the decade, with write-ups. Should be a terrifying look into the workings of my psyche. Wait, what?
